KVPie

A Redis-compatible database that spreads across servers without changing your app.

Spreading Redis across servers usually comes with catches: a special cluster-aware client, and background copying that can lose writes your app was told had succeeded when a server dies. KVPie is built from Redis 7.2 to remove them.

In short: Redis that doesn't lose writes it has confirmed, and won't guess when it can't be sure.

Works with your existing client
Connect to any server. It passes the request to whichever one holds the key, so there are no redirects to handle.
Confirmed writes survive a failure
A write is only confirmed once a second server has it, and that server takes over if the first one fails.
It won't guess
If the newest copy of some data might be on a server that's down, KVPie refuses those requests rather than serve stale data.
Properly open source
BSD-licensed, like Redis was before version 7.4 changed its licence.

The trade-off: writes are a little slower than plain Redis, because each one waits for a second server to confirm it.

Status: in active development, phase 3 of 6. Still to come: adding and removing servers, automatic rebalancing, and transactions that span servers.
